Abstract/Description: Hexabromocyclododecane (HBCD) and Tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA) are mass produced Brominated Flame Retardants (BFRs) that are used in a number of widely available commercial materials such as plastics, rubbers, textiles and electronic components. These chemicals are added specifically to slow down or inhibit the initial phase of a developing fire.
